Insurance Requirements

Mandatory Coverage for Safaris & Kilimanjaro Climbs

Comprehensive travel insurance is **mandatory** for all bookings with Sirmella Adventure. Because our trips include high-altitude trekking on Mount Kilimanjaro (up to 5,895m) and remote safari experiences, your policy must provide adequate protection for both activities.

Why Insurance Is Mandatory

Tanzania trips involve remote locations, high altitude, wildlife environments, and long international travel. In the event of illness, injury, trip cancellation, or emergency evacuation, adequate insurance protects both you and our operations.

Mandatory Insurance Coverage

For Kilimanjaro Trekking

  • High-altitude trekking coverage up to 6,000 meters
  • Emergency helicopter evacuation from the mountain
  • Medical expenses and hospitalization
  • Trip cancellation and interruption
  • Repatriation and return of remains

Crucial: Insurance MUST explicitly cover trekking up to 6,000m.

For Safari Adventures

  • Medical emergencies and hospitalization
  • Emergency medical evacuation
  • Trip cancellation due to illness or unforeseen events
  • Baggage loss or delay
  • Personal liability coverage

Important Notes

  • • Standard travel insurance often excludes high-altitude trekking. You must specifically request or upgrade your policy to include coverage up to 6,000m.
  • • Many policies have altitude limits (e.g., 3,500m or 5,000m). Please verify the exact altitude covered in your policy.
  • • We recommend policies that include “Search and Rescue” and helicopter evacuation from remote areas.
  • • Insurance must be purchased before the final payment deadline and cover the entire duration of your trip.

How to Choose the Right Policy

Recommended Providers

World Nomads, Allianz, Travel Guard, IMG, or any reputable insurer that explicitly offers high-altitude trekking coverage.

What to Check Before Buying
  • • Does it cover up to 6,000m?
  • • Is helicopter evacuation included?
  • • Are pre-existing conditions covered?
  • • What is the cancellation coverage amount?

Proof of Insurance

You must send us a copy of your insurance policy (or certificate) at least 30 days before departure, clearly showing high-altitude coverage up to 6,000 meters.

Failure to provide valid insurance may result in cancellation of your booking without refund.

Travel insurance is not just a requirement — it is your safety net in one of the most adventurous destinations in the world.
